As an Underwriter in our Navigators & General team, you’ll be analysing and underwriting our new and existing business, interact with Brokers to support their customers and work as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. This means you’ll be in a Market facing role, so it’s really important that you are great at communicating and have a built-in passion for doing the right thing for our customers. If you pride yourself in providing excellent customer service every day, then you could be the perfect fit! We’ll support and train you in all the technical aspects of the role and will make sure that you feel part of the team from day one.

Key responsibilities:
  • Build and manage relationships with Brokers and Direct customers, by listening, understanding, and meeting customer needs to support onboarding new business and retaining existing customers through delivering excellent service.
  • Quote and set coverage, negotiate terms and conditions on New Business, Mid Term Adjustment and Renewals.
  • Provide administration support to ensure timely processing of policy transactions.
  • Support Zurich's culture by demonstrating trading and negotiation behaviours.
  • Develop sound risk and business awareness alongside learning our organisation's risk appetite.
  • Resolve technical problems by referring to policies, procedures, specifications and on short-term, defined scope projects.
  • Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines and insurance laws and regulations.
  • Be an active team member of a large multi-location Underwriting environment.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer focused mindset
  • Able to prioritise workload and stay organised
  • Team player and ability to build strong working relationships
  • Great attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Basic knowledge of the insurance industry/Financial Services and the legal and regulatory environment is preferable but not essential.
