Responsible for the delivery of a cost effective and high-quality Domestic Cleaning Service to staff and visitors.

To continually review the service processes and procedures in line with national guidelines and initiatives providing technical/specialist advice as required.

To provide effective leadership to the team and support the planning and co-ordination of duties within the Domestic Cleaning Services.

To ensure the departments high standards are reflected in practice through effective management of staff and contractors.

Supporting the Management team in all aspects within the department.

Leading your team to ensure that the department runs efficiently.

Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Provide guidance and instruction to members of your team.

Must be approachable, enthusiastic and a team player.

To provide effective leadership in the achievement of quality cleaning services.

Analyse service requirements and make recommendations relating to the development of the Domestic Cleaning Service.

To drive performance within your team and deliver a positive experience for all stakeholders and service users.

Liaise with client base nurturing professional relationships including attendance at meetings as required

Manage the services to ensure that all safety procedures are carried out in accordance with the Trust’s Policies and current legislation.

Co-ordinate and be part of the completion of service audits, surveys and monitoring processes/programmes.

To maintain a safe and secure working environment with regard to health and safety.

To ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures with respective risk and other related assessments

Ensure that all Datix reports are fully investigated.

To ensure that staff hours are utilised to the Departments best advantage.

To cover any area that is required to allow service to be maintained and reflect within allocation sheets.

To support the philosophy of team building within the department.

Attend and co-ordinate departmental mandatory training courses.

Conduct Supervisor appraisals

Manage Health Roster ensuring all staff are paid accurately and in a timely manner

Assist with annual leave management

Implement sickness absence management inc. occupational health referrals

Undertake Human Resources issues especially in relation to staff performance management including first level disciplinaries and capability

Co-ordinate agency usage to include Kernowflex and external suppliers

Active participation in recruitment processes to incorporate interviewing and employment checks

Help to ensure that all work schedules, standard operating procedures, policies and procedures for both the operational service and the department’s internal administration are up to date, implemented and available for all staff. This will impact beyond the department to include staff, patients and visitors.

To ensure that all staff are trained, competency assessed in all aspects of their roles and that correct training records are kept.

Provide input into compiling the content of reports for a variety of groups and committees

Coordinates and monitors the use of financial resources

Requisition, order and/or authorise equipment, materials and products within defined budgets including timesheets

To ensure there are clear lines of communication both internally within the department and externally to all wards/departments within the hospital. This includes regular briefing meetings of staff and customers.

Participate in the development of projects and Facilities initiatives as they become operational

To monitor and support Trust Contracts, i.e. pest control, window cleaning, Electrical cleaning Equipment

Forward valuable Infection Control advice in conjunction with IPAC to all departmental staff, Wards and Clinical Areas

Be a champion of staff welfare, equality and diversity

To assist the department to operate within its financial limit ensuring that all the budgetary resources, staff and stock purchases are used effectively, efficiently and in line with the Facilities Department strategic direction and comply with the Trust’s standing financial instruction.

Deputise for the Domestic Services Manager as required but work autonomously every week-end in their absence
