Dutch Freelance Translator

Omlet is looking for an outstanding English to Dutch translator to work on translating and localising content throughout our website, advertising and marketing projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a passion for pets and experience of working creatively with language.

We're a fast growing global e-commerce direct to consumer business, started by 4 Product Designers in 2004.

We are hugely ambitious and motivated in building the number 1 premium brand in pets, which means we’re looking for more people to join our already brilliant team!

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a passion for pets and experience of working creatively with language.

Purpose:

Accurately, engagingly and informatively translate copy for the Dutch and Belgian market in line with Omlet’s tone of voice. Anticipated workload approximately 10-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Translate English language copy into Dutch to give our customers the confidence to make their online purchases by equally informing and inspiring them
• Edit and update spreadsheets, documents and html code with Dutch translations
• Conduct thorough brand and product research to inform copy whilst working independently
• Deliver translations at pace to strict deadlines
• Sub-edit and proof-read own work
• Research and provide information about the Dutch pet brand market

Desired experience:

• Minimum 2 years experience in an English to Dutch translation role.
• Experience with content management systems.
• Experience with proofreading and sub-editing.

Desired skills:

• Accomplished writer with genuine passion and enthusiasm for the Dutch language and impeccable grammar.
• Educated to degree level in a related subject (e.g Translation/Journalism/Languages).
• Experience of working with machine translation software in an efficient and effective manner.
• Highly organised with excellent time management and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong working relationships and thrive working in a team.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently at pace to a very high standard, managing workload to strict deadlines.
