Salary: Band 8 – £30,621 - £34,833 (Increasing to £30,876 – £35,124 from September 2023 following a transitional pay award period)

Based at: Etal Lane (with some home working)

Fixed term until March 2025

Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the team of analysts and researchers within Northumbria Police, Intelligence Analytical Department. You will be part of a team involved in producing force wide specialist and analytical reports and evidential case exhibits linked to tactical, strategic and operational requirements.

You will be required to provide and drive specialist analytical products and guidance to senior management to aid in the prevention, targeting, disruption and detection of crime. Support operational and organisational business needs, creating innovative solutions to achieve strategic priorities and tactical planning.

Provide an efficient and effective service to support operational and investigative decision making and make recommendations to drive business activity and assess threat harm and risk.

The following are some of the key responsibilities you would be required to undertake:

• Analyse a wide range of data from a variety of sources to assist sensitive and complex business needs in respect of incidents, crime, organised crime, high risk issues, victims and major incidents.
• Develop hypotheses concerning the nature and scope of Crime and Disorder, in order to support operational decision making, identify improvements and force effectiveness and efficiency.
• Engage with internal and external leaders, stakeholder’s subject experts and the workforce to understand the assessment of analytical products and future capability requirements to shape and develop effective solutions.
• Analyse the activities of individuals, groups, organisations, crime and disorder patterns through the application of recognised techniques, specialist software and methodology.
• Present findings, both in written form and at meetings. Provide clear and objective recommendations in order to inform force resourcing to drive force priorities and business needs.
• Complete data requests and provide analytical products for external clients including home office returns and ad hoc enquiries in order to comply with national requirements.
• Become a subject matter expert in analysing force and partnership data with the ability to become a super user of complex analytical IT programmes.

Vetting level: Management Vetting (MV)

Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 5 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed. A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information and references.
