About the Role

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a CAD Technician to join our dynamic, talented and successful design team, which will be based in our London office (not remotely) and the role will require travelling to client offices and to site on a regular basis.

The role of CAD Technician includes (but not limited to) the following:

a) Carry out space planning and test-fit exercises to produce efficient general arrangements which meet the client’s and industry standards’ requirements;

b) Support the production of the design elements of the tender package according to industry standards and any project’s specific requirements;

c) Produce detailed technical drawings that will form part of the tender and construction package and are in line with WDL’s CAD and design standards;

d) Utilise WDL’s standard software package, such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Publisher, MS Office, etc. to develop all documentation required for design projects;

e) Produce detailed schedule of specifications to outline and communicate the proposed products and specific performance requirements;

f) Support our Measured Building Surveying Team with on-site measured surveys producing accurate drawings such as floor plans, elevations, sections and site plans;

g) Carry out FF&E surveys and produce detailed FF&E schedules, considering product specification, dimensions, finishes, material, etc. in line with the project’s budget;

h) Develop the design, specification and detail for bespoke furniture and joinery items as well as supporting with the coordination of FF&E installation;

i) Prepare and develop 3D models, renders, coloured layout plans and elevations, for our presentation material & interior design boards (IDB) as well as all other documents relating to the interior design scheme;

j) Be responsible for developing and maintaining our CAD and Sketch up 2D and 3D library;

k) Work with internal and external design teams to effectively deliver best value, innovative and regulatory compliant designs for company’s products and services;

l) Liaise with internal and external customers, end users, contractors, consultants and statutory bodies to ensure smooth delivery of the project through all stages of design process;

m) Support the process of continuous product design development and implementation;

n) Ensure full compliance with Building Regulations and all associated statutory regulations and maintain personal continuous development program;

o) Contribute to the development, communication and promotion of company purpose, vision, mission and values.

Essential Requirements

These are essential requirements to the role. Your application will be disregarded if you don’t meet these minimum requirements.

o Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, SketchUp and Photoshop;

o Present a portfolio of professional work to demonstrate exceptional space planning, drafting and detail design skills using AutoCAD and other design tools;

o Fluency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Power Point and Publisher.

Furthermore, the candidates will require:

o Hard-working ethic, initiative and responsibility;

o Ability to work in a team, under your own initiative, while managing your time effectively;

o Excellent time management, timekeeping and organisational skills.

In return for your skills WDL will offer a competitive package with a target salary of between £25k & £32k depending on your capability, your skill set & experience, as well as your ability to comply with the requirements above.
