FULL TIME BAND 3
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated member of staff to work in our Blood Sciences laboratory initially assisting the BMS staff in Clinical Biochemistry at West Herts Hospital Trust. Applicants may be required to work any time from 0800h to 2000h Monday to Friday, and some weekend periods.
The successful candidate will be required to work at either of the sites providing blood science services (Watford or Hemel Hempstead Hospital), although the post will initially be based at Watford.
In addition to working in the Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology laboratories, providing support to these areas on a rotational basis the successful candidate will be required at times to work in the sample reception area.

Providing acute services to West Hertfordshire across four sites, the Trust has unrivalled training and development programmes available to all of its 4,400 staff. Conveniently situation between Central London and the Northern Home Counties, the Trust provides many benefits including Child Care facilities.
Laboratory experience and keyboard skills will be an advantage, however full training will be provided.

There are also plans for a digital transformation, new models of care and a multi-storey car park. To receive specimens, enter patient and test details in to the Pathology computer system, Prepare specimens for the Chemical Pathology and Haematology Laboratories and for sending to other laboratories
To prepare reagents and assure storage conditions of reagent stocks.
To recover samples for analysis and to be responsible for post processing storage of clinical samples.
To perform maintenance and IQC were deemed appropriate on analytical platforms under the direction and supervision of HCPC registered BMS staff.
To perform basic analytical techniques deemed suitable under the supervision of HCPC registered BMS staff.
To work closely with registered biomedical scientist staff, to observe and implement standard operating procedures, to liaise with clinical and nursing staff
To participate in the annual joint review process (Values Bases Appraisal)
To participate in flexible working practices (shift patterns) and work at either site as required for the smooth running of the service.
