This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join our collaborative project embedding patient and public involvement and engagement into a programme providing cost-effectiveness advice for immunisation policy to the Department of Health and Social care (DHSC) and the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

The successful candidate will join the MEMVIE team, to be primarily supervised by Prof. Sophie Staniszewska (Warwick Medical School), and also working with Prof Matt Keeling (Warwick Maths and Life Sciences), Dr Ed Hill (Warwick Maths), and Prof. Stavros Petrou (Nuffield Department of Primary Care, Oxford). This is a recently funded project that extends the high impact work of MEMVIE over the last 9 year, including the publication of a framework for public involvement in modelling, which will be used in this next study.

The post calls for an ambitious and motivated researcher with skills in undertaking patient and public involvement in research, working with a public contributors using a co-production approach, undertaking literature reviews to inform publications about PPIE, undertaking engagement and outreach activity, and working collaboratively with the wider research team and supporting their advisory role to DHSC and JCVI.

If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure (£32,411). Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£33,348).

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To support the delivery of the patient and public involvement and engagement element of a research programme, funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Programme, aimed at generating new evidence on the cost-effectiveness of interventions targeted at infectious diseases in England. The precise infections and interventions considered will by driven by Department of Health and Social Care policy makers. The post is funded at 50% full time equivalent.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Update a review of literature focused on studies exploring patient and public involvement and engagement in mathematical and economic modelling.

2. Expand the existing PPI Reference group to create a diverse voice to inform the modelling.

3. Develop high quality relationships with the PPI Reference Group that facilitate good working practices.

4. Support the research team to create a good context for public involvement to contribute to the modelling.

5. Develop PPI plans for the PPI Reference Group based on the MEMVIE Framework for public involvement in modelling.

6. Identify additional public contributors for specific modelling topics.

7. Assist and support the research team communication and collaboration.

8. Assist and support the research team to deliver a series of engagement events.

9. Be involved in the conduct of relevant dissemination activities, including: publications, research events/seminars and conferences.

10. Undertake training as required.

11. Assist and support with any other duties as required by the project or department.
