Library Assistant (Procurement & Metadata)

An exciting opportunity now exists for a part-time library assistant to join the Procurement & Metadata team.

This is a part-time post working 22.5 hours per week, 4.5 hours per day Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9am and 3pm. The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.

The post holder will undertake multiple administrative based duties to support library services, in particular document delivery, acquisitions, book processing, basic cataloguing from templates and checking bibliographic information. This role includes a degree of manual handling and working at height. Therefore, excellent administrative, communication, organisational and team working skills are essential, alongside computer literacy. Previous experience in a library or equivalent is essential.

To be successful in the role, you will need an understanding of library procurement and cataloguing processes, be able to work as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate thorough attention to detail. The ability to adapt to changing processes and systems and the commitment to the development and delivery of a quality service are qualities that we are looking for in the successful candidate.
