Postdoctoral Research Scientist

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, to join a team of immunologists and proteomics experts led by Prof. Jack Satsangi and Assoc. Prof. Nicola Ternette at the Translational Gastroenterology Unit and Centre for Immuno-Oncology in Oxford. The focus of this project will be the definition of determinants for developing drug-related responses during the treatment of IBD, and to explore alternative treatment options in the context of the strong HLA association in IBD.

You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate, as well as contributing ideas for new research projects. You will be responsible for collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally presenting papers and posters. You will act as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in immunology or relevant biomedical science, and have experience with immune-assays, and specifically monoclonal antibody biochemistry. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project, and have previous experience of leading scientific publication(s) and presentations. It is essential you have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
