Applications are invited for two fixed-term IOI Postdoctoral Research Associates in Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry, to work under the supervision of Professor Christopher Schofield until 31 December 2025
The position is based at the new INEOS Oxford Institute for Ineos Oxford Institute, at the Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
The overall project aims to combat antimicrobial resistance via a multidisciplinary approach.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and synthesis of small molecule inhibitors as part of the drug development programs. The postholder will play a key role in the preparation of inhibitors using structural, biochemical and microbiological data to inform molecule design and generate hypotheses.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry or Chemistry, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up your appointment. The research requires extensive expertise in organic synthesis, in particular of natural product synthesis and / or modern synthetic methods. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
