Wellbeing Practitioner

Salary: Grade 6 (£29,762 - £35,308 p.a. depending on experience)

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements. The role will be primarily on campus with the expectation of no greater than 1 day per week working from home.

Previous applicants are welcome to re-apply.

Do you have experience of providing mental health, wellbeing and/or counselling support? Can you manage a complex caseload? Do you want to provide critical support to students experiencing emotional distress?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service is part of the Student Education Service and provides a wide range of excellent and innovative support to help students manage psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties whilst at University. As part of the University’s commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience, and in recognition of its critical role in supporting students, Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service has received significant investment and are recruiting additional staff.

Student Counselling and Wellbeing is a large multi-disciplinary team that supports students through primarily time limited, focused interventions. In addition to individual appointments the service offers a comprehensive groups and psychoeducational workshop programme; same day support in partnership with Leeds University Union; a Clinical Consultation and Guidance service for University staff and critical incident response and support.

You will be committed to working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, confident in clinical assessment and risk management, and it is essential that you are enthusiastic about focused, short-term interventions in wellbeing and mental health support. Using your professional training and drawing on your experience and knowledge, you will manage a varied and complex caseload of students, provide initial assessments and appropriate psychological interventions, including delivering focussed group sessions.
