Education and Academic Services – Wellbeing Services

This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis until 6 May 2024, to cover maternity leave.

Summary of the role

The post plays a key part in the University's offering of pastoral and welfare support for students. You will act as the first point of contact for these students, providing ongoing support for students experiencing personal problems and difficulties, and will coordinate a response and provide support which is tailored to individual students' needs, signposting and referring to specialist support. This will include responding to mental health challenges, liaising with other University staff and external agencies as appropriate.

You will sit in Wellbeing Services and report to the Welfare Pathway Lead, but your work will also involve extensive networking and liaison with individuals in student residences, security services, academic Colleges and across a range of other services. In addition to working directly with students, you will offer advice and support to other members of staff, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of appropriate evidence based outcome measures.

We are seeking a candidate who has exceptional interpersonal skills, a resilient attitude, and a practical, solution-focused approach. In return we will provide an exciting, varied and rewarding role within a dynamic and supportive team, committed to providing the best possible experience for our students. Commitment to the wider participation agenda is essential by improving fair access, inclusivity, celebrating and working with diversity are essential pre-requisites.

Please note that this post will be subject to a clear DBS check.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
