The University of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint an individual to provide high-quality administrative support for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CDT-RAS), a joint initiative between Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh Universities https://www.edinburgh-robotics.org/

The Opportunity:

The key strategic aim of the CDT, which is the training arm of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, is to help the UK realise its industrial potential in the robotics revolution by producing a new generation of highly skilled researchers. The Centre achieves this by harnessing the potential of around 70 world-leading investigators across 12 cross-disciplinary research groups and Institutes in the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences and the Department of Computer Science at Heriot-Watt, and the Schools of Informatics and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.

Under the direction of the Centre Manager based at Heriot-Watt University, the post holder will provide administrative support for the CDT-RAS programme. They will support both the students undertaking the programme and the academic staff leading the Centre. The job will be varied and interesting and the post holder will play a key organisational role in a small, multitasking team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Educated to Higher level (SCQF Level 6) or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a busy, administrative environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of committee servicing / minute taking; organising and running events; and arranging travel.
  • Strong IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Office, email, specialist databases and social media platforms.
  • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to track financial spend against set budgets.
  • Demonstrable ability to apply relevant policies and procedures in a work context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to the working environment.
