The Faculty of Education in central Cambridge is looking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Literacy Education (Primary). It offers an exciting opportunity for a research-active educator to join a leading national and international centre engaged in teaching and educational research. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to the international profile of the Faculty through research publications, grant capture, impactful dissemination, and public engagement.

Working with other colleagues, the successful applicant will be expected to make an immediate contribution to the Faculty's teaching and research, with particular responsibility for the literacy component of the Primary PGCE programme, supporting those training to teach children in the 3-11 age range. They will also contribute to the planning and teaching of the Professional Studies course on the Primary PGCE programme and will be a Partnership Tutor for trainees in schools. Candidates will therefore be qualified teachers, have substantial teaching experience in a primary school setting, and a proven ability to provide an inspirational, enthusiastic model of good teaching to both children and adults.

Applications are encouraged from professionals early in their careers. The successful candidate will demonstrate an outstanding engagement with literacy and English language education as a research and professional field. They will demonstrate their ability to contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programmes, including Masters and Doctoral teaching. They will have a demonstrated ability to support equality, diversity and inclusion in education within the Faculty and University. Candidates will demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and safer recruitment when working with schools within the UK context and internationally. We particularly encourage applications from those who have been engaged with issues of inclusion in diverse populations and/or disadvantaged communities.
