Here in ITAPS (Intensive Care, Theatres, Anaesthetics, Pain and Sleep) we are extending our project portfolio with new innovations including the creation of a pre-assessment facility which will benefit our patients in the community and wider afield. To support us in our vision we are expanding our project team and are offering a fixed term contract for 24 months. We are looking for someone who has experience of managing assigned projects to deliver the desired outcomes in accordance with quality, budget and timescale using known project methodology.

Your role will be instrumental in the success of these projects and you will use your experience in managing consultants and contractors, co-ordinating the project process from inception through to design, planning and completion. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills . You must be comfortable attending meetings and leading discussions and be personable to both maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

We need someone who recognises that all the projects we deliver ultimately impact our patients, be it directly or indirectly, therefore care and attention to detail is paramount to ensure health and safety standards throughout any of our project life cycles.

The post holder will project manage assigned projects to deliver the desired outcomes in accordance with quality, budget, and timescale specifications, thus performing a key role in keeping the project/programme on track to meet the objectives.

This will involve:
  • facilitating the development of ITAPS project plans.
  • facilitating delivery of projects including regulatory requirements, e.g. Quality Impact Assessments (QIAs)
  • identifying, building and managing multifunctional teams of both technical and non-technical staff in line with Trust procedures and best practice.
  • Developing and maintaining strong communications links with key stakeholders, including ITAPS Project Boards, conveying complex issues and negotiating desired outcomes
  • monitoring progress of projects and workstreams.
  • supporting the identification, recording, monitoring and management of project risks and issues.
  • producing reports and papers for meetings.
  • Completing and maintaining formal project documentation required throughout the project lifecycle including the production of policies and procedures
  • ensuring governance processes are followed.
  • having allocated areas of work and responsibilities and will also provide cross-working support within the innovation team as and when required
  • identifying the impact and support the operational change management following the completion of the project.
We are one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country, incorporating the General, Glenfield and Royal Infirmary hospitals. We have our very own Children’s Hospital and run one of the country’s leading heart centres.

Our team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
We work with partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom go on to spend their working lives with us.

Our purpose is to provide ‘Caring at its best’ and our staff have helped us create a set of values that embody who we are and what we’re here to do. They are:
  • We focus on what matters most
  • We treat others how we would like to be treated
  • We are passionate and creative in our work
  • We do what we say we are going to do
  • We are one team and we are best when we work together
Our patients are at the heart of all we do and we believe that ‘Caring at its best’ is not just about the treatments and services we provide, but about giving our patients the best possible experience.
