An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Tropical Medicine and Infection Unit at the Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham for compassionate and enthusiastic Registered Nurses or soon to be qualified nurses to join our supportive and friendly team. We are a 47 bedded unit with dedicated and supportive staff that have an interest and passion in Tropical Medicine and Infection.

You should be committed and passionate about providing a high standard of nursing care with a keen interest in achieving new skills. In return as a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive, friendly team who are passionate about making staff feel valued and motivated. We have an excellent supportive competency programme to facilitate the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high quality care, you will be provided with a structured band 5 competency programme as well as a variety of training opportunities, with a dedicated Clinical educator for the area..

Main duties, tasks & skills required

We are extremely passionate about getting it right for patients and their families and in order to achieve this we are looking to employ enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate Band 5 Registered Nurses. As a member of our team, you will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary teams. Ward 28 is a busy and dynamic ward specialising in Infectious Diseases. Our team take care of patients with complex infections acquired in the community and healthcare settings. We have expertise in the management of resistant tuberculosis, complex HIV, viral hepatitis, orthopaedic bone & joint infections and infections acquired during travel to tropical regions. We are currently one of the Covid 19 wards within the trust. This exciting role will offer passionate Band 5 Nurses a platform to develop their skills and knowledge in the area of Infectious Diseases.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC Register

Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC

Experience

Essential

Previous/recent experience or working in an acute secondary NHS care setting (can include student placements within the last 12 months)

Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/competence

Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team/providing supervision to others

Willingness to become a practice supervisor/assessor to or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
