About us

The Neuropsychology Epilepsy group is headed by Professor Sallie Baxendale and has international research links with epilepsy groups in Europe, Australia, and the USA. Our group also works closely with clinical and research teams in the epilepsy and other departments at IoN, particularly for genetics, neuroimaging, and neuropsychology.

About the role

You will work on a project investigating ‘epilepsy and neurodegeneration: disease mechanisms and early detection’, which includes longitudinal imaging (Including Tau-PET imaging), CSF and neuropsychometric studies, and clinical data collected on patients in the epilepsy surgical programme at the National Hospital. The study will include retrospective cohorts of patients operated since 2000 and under long term neuropsychological, clinical and neuroimaging follow up as well as epilepsy patients undergoing surgery while this project is in progress.

An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.

The post is available immediately and funded by Wellcome until 31 January 2026 in the first instance.

About you

You will have an honours degree in psychology (minimum 2:1) plus advanced IT proficiency, excellent communication skills, and strong problem-solving abilities. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively and on your own initiative are also essential for this role.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
