Your role

Do you want to play a vital part in the design of our current and future banking technology? Do you have proven ability to design, develop and deploy complex platforms and applications?

As a Solution Architect within Core Data Services, you will be building solutions to solve some of the organisation’s Reference Data Acquisition, Management and Distribution challenges and contributing significant business value. This is an exciting time to join as you will be helping to shape the Reference Data Mastering and Distribution architecture and technology stack

Key Responsibilities:

  • modernize, rationalize, and simplify our technology landscape, application portfolio and surrounding processes
  • apply a range of agile architecture skills depending on context, from enterprise and business architecture to technical and data architecture
  • produce architectural strategies that meet our business needs and help to differentiate our products and services for long-term success
  • run an open and inclusive architecture process to evaluate options and make decisions transparently, recording a clear explanation of how decisions are reached
  • work collaboratively to align product and architectural strategy, so that products and services are developed in line with our digital principles and architectural goals
  • work in an agile way as part of multi-disciplinary teams, participating in agile ceremonies and collaborating with engineers, product managers, designers, and others
  • collaborate with other architects to define architectural goals and standards and manage temporary and strategic solutions and technical debt remediation
  • play an active role in consulting with product owners and engineers to help translate OKRs into backlog items and a roadmap that includes architectural improvements
  • stay up to date on architectural tools and practices, and actively participate in guilds, working groups and forums to share knowledge, identify and promote reuse across the organization
  • identify and provide opportunity for individuals and teams to learn and experiment with new and emerging architectural patterns and technical practices

Key Deliverables:

  • delivery of products and services that process our strategic architecture
  • architecture guidance, decisions, and communication
  • requests for comment (RFCs), architecture decision records (ADRs) and RAID lists.
  • rata to support decision making including technology landscape and application health data
  • architecture principles, goals, patterns, and standards

Your team

You’ll be working in the Core Data services – Transformation team “Cumulus” who are driving innovation and reengineering. You'll play an important role in seeing our transition to Cloud technologies, simplification of IT landscape and improvement in our business operating model. Our culture centres on partnership with our businesses, transparency, accountability and empowerment, and passion for the future

The Data Services team's footprint is wide and interfaces into many critical functions of our business. We provide business divisions and control functions with the golden source of reference data. The sourcing, mastering and distribution of the data is being done through a series of centralized data mastering systems and a common provisioning service

Your expertise

  • degree in engineering, science or equivalent from an accredited institution
  • ideally 8+ years of experience in Data Architecture & Design and experience working with distributed systems, data extraction, data mining, data analytics, data visualization
  • evidence of successful management of complex and diverse tasks, while meeting key objectives and timelines
  • analytical mindset and a desire to make organizations more data-driven
  • ability to translate business objectives into technical requirements with concrete actions and articulate technical concepts and results to diverse audiences
  • solid interpersonal skills, able to build trusted relationships within our team and across the organization at all levels
  • understanding of Data Mesh principles and how they can be used to improve business benefit and increase delivery velocity of Data Assets in a complex environment is highly desired
  • working experience in Agile methodologies (SCRUM, XP, Kanban)
  • experience in Cloud environment for e.g. Azure (preferred), AWS, GCP
