For over 50 years Tom Hixson of Smithfield has operated within the historic setting of Smithfield market. In addition to selling directly to customers visiting the market, we also deliver to businesses across the UK and have a rapidly growing website selling direct to consumers.

Job Overview:

We are offering an enthusiastic, hard-working individual the opportunity to join our Delivery Operations team. The role will be ensuring orders placed on our website are prepared for delivery in a timely fashion and to the standards required by the business.

The chosen candidate will need to be a versatile individual who is comfortable working in our refrigerated warehouse. A team player, who can manage their time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed. Works well with their colleagues throughout the business.

Prior experience in the meat or food sector is desirable but candidates looking for a new challenge will be considered.

Proficiency with computers is essential.

You must either be qualified to drive a fork-lift or willing to be trained.

HACCP and Health & Safety qualifications or experience is desirable but not essential.

Having deliveries operate 7 days a week is an important aim for the business. To achieve this some weekend work will be involved.

Key Responsibilities:

· Preparing orders for our home delivery business. Maintaining a high level of accuracy.

· Work with our courier partners to ensure successful collections each day

· Ensure all elements which are integral to our home delivery business are ready (boxes, ice etc)

· Checking orders for errors

· Helping to manage our stockroom setup

· Highlighting issues to Customer Services

· Administrative tasks to ensure systems are up to date with daily activities

· Compliance with all regulations including HACCP and Health & Safety

· Reporting to the Web Operations Manager

· Various ad-hoc duties as required
