Required for September 2023

Salary: Surrey Pay PS6 £23,285 (FTE £27,067)

5 days a week (36 hours) – Term time only (39 weeks per year)
One-year fixed term contract

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Educational Psychologist to work alongside the school’s Head of
Learning Support and Educational Psychologist. As part of the team, you will promote, develop and secure the highest standard of provision for children, families and the school. This post will provide you with an opportunity to gain high quality experience prior to applying for a place on a recognised doctoral training course.

Would you like to:

  • Undertake psychological assessments, questionnaires, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and semi-structured interviews
  • Provide a high standard of interventions for children with learning, social or emotional needs
  • Provide high quality advice to teachers and parents, which makes best use of their individual capacity and experiences
  • Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings and reviews
  • Develop staff’s knowledge and understanding of psychology and child development (e.g. training, workshops, drop in sessions)
  • Deliver core services and early intervention work in our school.
  • Work directly with young people, staff and parents.
  • Support initiatives to promote the wellbeing of children through early intervention and school development work.
  • Support with evidenced-based assessments/interventions to individual children and/or groups and contribute to the planning and delivery of training.
  • Undertake small scale research, projects including analysis of data.
  • Receive a programme of induction, training and supervision.

You will have:

  • A good (single or joint) honours degree in Psychology and a MSc in Psychology.
  • Relevant practical experience working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply psychology in educational and community settings.
  • Knowledge of methods of collecting and analysing data.
  • The ability to work to deadlines, with a high standard of report writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be competent with IT.
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

(SEND) will be an advantage.

You will receive regular supervision from an experienced member of the team and have opportunities for team work and support from a range of professionals. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to gain relevant experience with a view to applying for a place to train in Educational or Clinical Psychology.
