To work under the guidance of the Summer Program Director to provide outstanding teaching to small groups of international students aged 11 to 17 years.

Hours of Work:

As specified in contract working an average of 45 hours per week with a one hour break each day, but may be scheduled and required to work additional hours in any week according to operational requirements. The days of the week and the number and timing of working hours within each working day may be varied from time to time by the School in accordance with operational requirements.

The normal work pattern will include four daily 55 minute elective teaching sessions Monday to Friday each week, one weekly leadership or supervision of a sport activity from 2.30 pm to 3.45 pm and you will chaperone weekend trips on Friday evening, Saturday and/or Sunday.

Throughout the six-week program, you will supervise the campus 6-7 times on either:

  • Weekdays (Monday to Thursday) from 4 pm to 10 pm
  • Friday from 4 pm to 10.30 pm
  • Saturday 5 pm to 10.30 pm
  • Sunday 9 am to 10 pm

General Responsibilities:

  • Teach four 55 minute lessons each day Monday to Friday each week by following the Summer Program curriculum and methodology;
  • Plan and prepare lessons before each class;
  • Oversee the classroom and manage student behaviour as required;
  • Complete formal reports and evaluations for students;
  • Collaborate with the Director of Summer Program regarding student progress; and
  • Participate in a personal appraisal and evaluation process with the Director of Summer Program and other members of the Administration team to receive feedback on teaching performance.

Other Duties:

  • Contributes positively to the overall work, smooth running and ethos of the Summer Program;
  • Attends and participates in faculty and planning meetings, and in-service presentations as required;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the Program;
  • Assists with the leadership and supervision of students out of directed lesson time within working hours. This may include before and after school, lunch/recess, sporting activities, airport transfers and trips;
  • Provides coverage for teachers in the event of absence if necessary and oversees registration across all activity responsibility areas; and
  • Maintains confidentiality and sensitivity but with regard to the safeguarding procedures of TASIS.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • To know the identity of the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy;
  • To proactively be alert to indicators of potential safeguarding issues and report these immediately in accordance with the school’s procedure;
  • To be aware of the School’s policies relating to Safeguarding and Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety, and follow their requirements;
  • Attend training relating to Safeguarding of Children;
  • Engage in safe practice and professional conduct to safeguard children to mitigate against the potential for misunderstandings or situations being misconstrued; and
  • Create safe and secure learning environments.
