Job Introduction

The starting salary for this position is £46,634 per annum, based on working 36-hours per week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract / secondment opportunity.

We are excited to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced candidate to become a Public Health Programme Manager, gaining experience in Public Health as you work with us to implement the NHS Long Term Prevention Programmes jointly with NHS Surrey Heartlands.

We are forward-looking with a strong focus on improving the health and wellbeing of our county's population and reducing health inequalities which is a strong focus of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Key areas of focus of this role will be tobacco dependency in acute, maternity and mental health settings, NHS digital weight management and Alcohol Care Teams.

Don’t worry, you won’t be doing this on your own! As Public Health Programme Manager you’ll work alongside other public health leads and with our partners Primary Care, Acute Trusts (acute, maternity and mental Health), NHS England and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID). Experience in the NHS/UK Healthcare system is essential, being able to navigate and maximise the benefits of these relationships will be the key to success!

Alongside managing these relationships, you as Programme Manager you will lead on a defined portfolio of work , ensuring successful delivery and ongoing monitoring against programme targets and KPIs set by the national team. You will also manage a budget and the programmes/projects that are associated with that budget.

To be considered for shortlisting to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • A First Degree in health, social sciences, or a related subject and a Masters degree in Public Health/Health Promotion or a relevant subject (or equivalent knowledge gained through experience/ post-graduate training).
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles and techniques to a wide range of complex projects or programmes Evidence of continuous training and personal development for example in: public health topic areas (health improvement, healthcare Public health) reducing health inequalities
  • Ability to collate, monitor and interpret a range of data with proven problem solving skills with the capacity to devise and implement innovative solutions.
  • Proven written and oral communication with the ability to influence and work in collaboration with others to help establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of the UK healthcare system/NHS is essential.
