Following our commitment to invest £12.5 billion in low carbon projects over the next 5 years, our SSE Renewables (SSER) business continues to be at the forefront of our growth plans, and our ambition to build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, the community you live in and for generations to come. We are proud to be playing a critical role in the net zero transition, as we aim to more than treble the net capacity in operation to 13GW and grow renewable energy output five-fold to over 50TWh over the next 10 years.
About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £37,600 - £56,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Drawings and GIS Manager, the GIS Analyst will assist in the management of SSE's Renewable Onshore GIS Systems.
You'll be required to produce maps, plans and data sets using ARC GIS Pro to support the use of ARC GIS Online platform across the business. This includes the production of Ecology plans, Environmental Risk Maps, Lease plans, creating and updating datasets and creation of online web maps, applications and dashboards.
Some of your other main accountabilities will include;
- Providing comprehensive technical expertise and GIS support across SSE Renewables and the wider SSE group, ensuring high quality data standards are rigorously adhered to both internally and externally.
- Sourcing and managing spatial data sets using a variety of tools and techniques ensuring all associated metadata and geographical information is up to date.
- Creating web maps, applications, and dashboards for use on AGOL.
- Using scripting techniques to automate processes on ARCGIS Pro and improve visuals within AGOL.
- Creating 3D models of Wind farms and Hydro infrastructure, with the intent to incorporate BIM models and point cloud surveys.
- Identifying innovative value opportunities within the Drawings and GIS Team to support the Onshore Renewables business maximise returns on existing assets and projects.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Degree level qualification in a geography or environmental based discipline which covers the use of GIS.
- Extensive experience and a strong understanding of ESRI's suite of GIS software in particular ARC GIS Pro and AGOL.
- Good knowledge in production of data sets using advanced editing toolsets such as Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst.
- Knowledge of data management standards.
- The ability to use Python/Java for scripting and automation would be an advantage.
