Come and Join Sheffield Children's Hospital and our CAMHS services!

We are a dynamic and fast paced service that provide clinical assessment and support for young people experiencing a mental health crisis. We work both in the hospital setting, in CAMHS bases across Sheffield and young people's homes where required.

The role is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team that is committed to providing the best possible care to young people and their families.

The STAR team offer assessments in Sheffield Children's A&E department, for young people in crisis, and we are expanding and developing our community intensive treatment service. We have an excellent and welcoming MDT team, offering specialist assessment and interventions to children and young people in Sheffield.

We aim to deliver a first class, and high quality service. To do this, we are making improvements to ensure there is the investment in staff by offering excellent supervision and training to deliver the first class service we want for children and young people visiting our services. Sound Interesting? We look forward to hearing from you.

The STAR team provide assessments for young people that present at the Sheffield Children's NHS foundation trust in a mental health crisis. Additionally we also provide Community intensive treatment care and follow up care for young people who are in a mental health crisis and work alongside our community CAMHS colleagues to support families often in the home environment.

The STAR team is primarily made up of RMN's working alongside a consultant psychiatrist. We are supported by our Community CAMHS colleagues and liase with a wide variety of outside agencies such as social care and education.

The team work closely together and carry out all assessments and the majority of CIT work in pairs. This supports the cohesiveness of the team and allows the team members to feel well supported in working with young people in crisis.

Sheffield Children’s is one of three independent, specialist paediatric hospitals in the country, providing dedicated healthcare for children and young people across community, mental health and acute specialist settings.

We have three overarching aims that set the direction for the Trust in our vision “to create a healthier future for children and young people.”
  • Outstanding patient care
  • Brilliant place to work
  • Leader in children’s health
Our commitment to rewarding colleagues is demonstrated through our brilliant reward and benefits offer including; generous annual leave entitlement and pension scheme and access to salary sacrifice schemes such as cycle to work and lease cars.

We are committed to supporting colleagues from different heritages and lifestyles while at work. This is supported through the offer we have in place for flexible working and the three equality network groups we have in place. Colleagues are encouraged to join these groups and request flexible working.

The role is to support the team in conducting assessments of patients that attend SCH after experiencing a mental health crisis. Additionally to provide intensive support to a small caseload of patients in the community.

Please see the job description and personal specification for full details of roles and responsibilities.
