About our group:
The Global Wafer Systems Group is a highly technical team responsible for the design, development, and
deployment of systems for Seagate, with several locations in the US, Southeast Asia, India, China, the United Kingdom, and beyond. With a portfolio that includes Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered solutions, Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, best in class visualizations, and rapid deployment, this team has won industry awards due to its innovation, best in class systems, and value delivery.
About the role - you will:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Machine Learning, Data Engineering or Computer Science Intern wishing to take on a 11-month placement, commencing in September 2023 to join our Global Wafer Systems team in Springtown.
The intern will join our highly dynamic Global Wafer Systems team and will be expected to work in one of the following domains depending on skillset: Statistics, Deep-learning, Data Engineering, Computer Science or Software Development- Developing state of the art machine learning models
- Deliver critical insights supporting automated decision making and root cause analysis
- Work on Image processing algorithms
- Translate machine learning algorithms into production-level code
- Perform data and feature engineering
- Build well-documented scalable RESTful APIs
- Work closely with a global team of Data Scientists to complete a research project to help shape the future of new data products
About you:
Skilled in Python (knowledge of pandas, sklearn, pytorch, matplotlib especially)- SQL proficiency, basic understanding of database structures
- Experience with classification and tree-based algorithms, among other supervised and unsupervised methodologies
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts simply to different groups
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders, including analytics teams, development teams, product management and operations
Your experience includes:
Currently undertaking a Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, computer science or engineering- Programming skills with Python, R, JavaScript, SQL
- Knowledge in machine learning algorithms applicable for predictive tasks
- Experience with a cloud computing platform (e.g., Azure, GCP, Databricks, AWS, Snowflake)

This is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week, on-site working. The placement dates are:
Starting on Monday, 4th September 2023 and finishing Friday, 23rd August 2024
