In a nutshell

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help drive the development of applications and tools across production and non-production environments, including but not limited to the modernisation of existing applications. You will build and maintain a suite of high performant and robust API's, that provides outstanding user experience for our customers.

You will be working in accordance with Sainsbury’s Bank and AFS development methodologies and leveraging industry best practices, tools, and infrastructure to deliver high quality end products whilst within an agile environment.

What you need to do

• Works on resolving complex areas of improvement that may impact multiple areas. Has ownership of both internal and external relationships. May be required to be a working manager/team lead.

• Implements multiple critical components of larger software projects.
• Serves as the ultimate problem solver and final stop for troubleshooting issues.
• Defines work and advises on tasks independently.
• Drives improvements in community content, health, and moderated discussion.
• Optionally responsible for the technical mentorship and guidance of a team.
• Challenges stakeholders and project scope where needed.
• Clarifies and communicates stakeholder objectives.
• Defines and elaborates on tasks, weighs pros/cons, coordinates with stakeholders for important components.
• Receives direction in the form of objectives.

What you need to know and show

• Strong experience of back-end service development using TypeScript & NodeJS Lambdas
• Solid experience of NPM build system
• Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Understands the value in different ways of working and challenges inefficiencies.
• Experience of leading and mentoring more junior engineers
• Experience of GIT & CI/CD
• Has guided and influenced stakeholders.
• Challenges and introduces knowledge base content and best practice.
