Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Digital Manager to join the Scottish Region, based at our Stepps Office.

Reporting to your assigned segments Digital Project Solutions Business Partner within a matrix structure. They shall plan, implement and manage the use of digital tools to capture, share and use information to enhance project delivery. This role is responsible for both model information management and systems infrastructure information management.

Your mission
Management Responsibilities
  • Has detailed knowledge of client and business requirements and expectations ensuring that the appropriate plans, specifications, reviews and controls are in place.
  • Collaborate with IT and Digital Project Solutions Management to ensure the simplification of systems and work methods that are fit for purpose and efficient.
  • Understand commercial implications of inaccurate information.
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of design processes to identify opportunities for improvement through implementation of digital tools.
  • Keep abreast of digital technological advances and monitor industry developments.
  • Working knowledge of relevant sections of applicable industry standards, codes of practice, company procedures and legal requirements.
  • Maintain high safety and environmental standards in accordance with company policies and report any inadequacies.

Project Level Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement systems for the management, sharing and storage of project information according to required protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of projects contractual obligations with respect to information management.
  • Coordinate with different disciplines and members for yearly ISO19650 audits.
  • Assess and report on prject supply chain capability and compliance with obligations agreed in the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure all stakeholders are compliant with information management protocols and procedures and address any non-compliance.
  • Compile and issue handover information specified in the client's Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs) and managed in the project BEP.
  • Contribute to the development of the Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project BEP to ensure project goals and EIRs are met.
  • Establish and manage a meeting schedule for BEP review aligned with the project programme/MIDP. Report at project meetings.
  • Monitor and report on information delivery progress in accordance with the MIDP.
  • Effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that data exchange between software/hardware systems are verified to ensure data integrity is maintained.
  • Establish project's, production methods and procedures.
  • Manage and establish information delivery teams, and task teams as the project demands.
  • Ensure the security of all the information disseminated and stored in the systems. This also includes archiving and disposal of project information.
  • Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) and train all the involved stakeholders in the usage of CDE.
  • Work alongside the Digital Project Specialist’s and Digital Project Technologist’s to ensure that project specific digital risks are captured and managed in the risk register.
  • Prepare and provide reports, analysis and forecasting as required.
  • Verify that the responsibility matrix is complete and agreed by all parties.
  • Work with project team, clients/employers and third parties to fully understand information requirements, manage expectations and delivery.
  • Provide training on all aspects of information management to all stakeholders across the project.
Who are we looking for?
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good management and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Encourage the use of digital tools and new technologies.
  • Experience working on construction projects with experience in Digital Construction.
  • Digital modelling skills (preferred – not essential).
  • Ability to motivate a team and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.
  • Experience in digital construction management/document management.
  • Understanding of the design and construction industry and the tendering process.
  • Ability to contribute to prequalification and tender submissions.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 19650 series
  • Educational Background: Higher Education in Construction or related fields
  • Experience working on construction projects with experience in DC.

Digital Construction Competencies

  • Knowledge - 4D programme to improve understanding of the construction sequence and support risk reduction.
  • Knowledge – 5D Forecasting (Link between programme, model, cost and how to extract information required for the job role).
  • Knowledge - Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Ability - Apply data validation techniques to construction information.
  • Ability - Develop BEP template to achieve project requirements.
  • Ability - Map information flow in terms of inputs, processes and outputs.
  • Expertise - Interface between digital software and technology.
  • Expertise - Usage of quality documentation e.g. BEP and MIDP to effectively manage, communicate and deliver information requirements.
  • Expertise - Specify and manage the production of federated 3D models to meet project and role requirements.
  • Expertise - Project delivery/handover formats(e.g. COBie etc.).
