European Road Freight Planner

RJS Recruitment are working with one of the leading European Freight Forward companies to recruit a Road Freight Planner based in Felixstowe. Our client is seeking a driven individual with a desire to succeed in logistics. The ideal candidate will be determined, pro-active and resilient. You will possess excellent telephone manner, with the ability to naturally negotiate and gain commitment.

Our client deals with the shipments on trailer of all sorts of products throughout Europe and both import and export departments are seeing increase in their volumes and need additional support on building relationships with carriers. Key Purpose

To arrange the movement of goods in a safe, efficient and cost-effective way making profitable sums

for the company whilst developing close business relationships.

Duties and responsibilities

• Build relationships with key European carriers
• Develop commitment from carriers
• Input jobs onto the company system
• Call & contact carriers daily for trailer availability
• Check collections & deliveries daily
• Check status of jobs when required
• Update positioning status on carrier software
• Learn pricing and negotiation
• Support other planners with ad-hoc requirements

The role

Within this role you will be working at our client’s office in Felixstowe working towards set targets. You will be required to nurture carriers for more commitment so should possess the will to build relationships and to strategically negotiate.

Ideally, we are seeking a candidate with:

Excellent telephone & email manner

Good negotiation skills

The drive to provide excellent customer service and build relationships

Work as part of a team

To be able to show initiative

Ability to perform simple administrative duties and data entry using Excel & Word

Well organised and polite

Language skills or knowledge of Europe an advantage

Salary: Competitive salary offered based on experience, along with a great benefit package
