We are offering an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, motivated registered nurses to join our team on critical care. All applicants will need to demonstrate they have had a minimum of 6 months acute hospital experience. Previous critical care experience is not necessary but would be desirable.

There will be the opportunity for professional development with an established in-house training programme. This is supported by the unit PDN and two mentors. Nurses can be funded to attend study days and supported through the critical care course or degree pathway.

The successful applicant will have a period of 4-6 weeks supernumerary followed by clinical support from our friendly nursing team.

The Unit has 13 beds providing care for acutely unwell medical and surgical patients, elective, trauma and paediatric admissions. The role will require you to develop an understanding of acute interventions, including ventilation, sepsis and renal replacement therapy.

Our unit is renown throughout the region for its active participation in clinical research / audit. This has led to national recognition for a number of innovations and published research papers. There is a designated research team, however nurses delivering bedside care, play an integral part in helping to support this research and are actively involved.

Informal enquires and visits welcome.

We are looking for innovative and compassionate registrants to join our multidisciplinary team providing specialised high level care to critically unwell patients.

You will need to be high motivated to provide the very best care to a variety of patients. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team.

You will be expected to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care for the patient/s in your care. You will need to learn or be able to prioritise appropriately for patient needs and to support others within the unit.

You will assist in the safe running of the unit by contributing at some level to audit, health and safety, budget management and support and supervision of colleagues, students and visitors to the unit.

We want people who have a vision for implementing change in order to offer a gold standard service to our patients, whilst continuing with your professional development to continue our work in ensuring we maintain and improve our overall good CQC rating.

In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer you the opportunity to be a part of the vision and will provide you with the opportunity to further your knowledge in both the clinical skills required in assessment of our patients with the addition of management of patients with complex needs in order to provide holistic care.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech.

In February 2022, the significant progress that has been made at QEH in just three years since 2019 was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures). We have an absolute determination to continuously improve care and services for our patients and their families.
