Through market-leading accredited courses, unrivalled membership plans, industry-shaping reports, thriving communities, and first-class events, we’re redefining the way companies access education and scale. Fearless in our approach, and innovative in execution, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

The Alliance's most important ingredient is simple: our people. In under 3 years, we’ve scaled from 6 to 100+, as we build our People function to support our next stage of growth we’re looking for an experienced and hands-on People Ops professional, capable of delivering both strategic and operational objectives with a passion for optimising the employee experience.

The Role:

  • Help shape The Alliance’s People function from the ground up.

  • Partner with the COO, broader leadership team and external specialists to build, deliver and champion key strategic People initiatives that drive impact:

    • Support managers & employees with effective conversations around opportunities and progression, as we roll out our levelling & progression framework

    • Help design and lead the rollout and implementation of a new Performance Development & Feedback process

    • Developing and spearheading initiatives to embed our mission vision and values into daily life across the business

  • Coach managers building and retaining high-performing teams with day-to-day effective performance management, career development, talent strategies and disciplinary support

  • Work with stakeholders across the business to identify hiring needs and understand the ideal candidate profile.

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment process from recruitment advertising and candidate engagement and assessment to scheduling interviews, providing feedback to candidates, and management of the offer process.

  • Own daily management of People Ops processes, across the employee life cycle and experience – from onboarding, probation confirmations or extensions, promotions, to exit interviews and everything in between.

  • Become a trusted partner with leaders and employees across the business taking the lead on employee relations matters.

  • Design, implement and own People related operations, processes, policies and workflows that scale.

  • Become a superuser across our People Ops tech stack (Personio, Culture Amp, and benefits platforms).

  • Ownership of key engagement initiatives that reinforce The Alliance’s mission and values including kickstarting our DE&I initiatives, building out our internal employee hub and delivering and reporting on our employee engagement surveys.

  • Recruit, manage and coach new talent into the People team in line with business need.

Requirements:

  • A passionate People professional and a proven executor craving ownership and accountability.

  • 5+ years experience in People Operations/ HR generalist role, within a high-growth start-up environment.

  • Helping shape the People function, and creating an exceptional employee experience is a challenge that excites you.

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and change and have a track record of making an impact in these environments.

  • Proven experience in partnering with senior managers and leaders with the ability to quickly build strong and trusted relationships.

  • You’re a natural relationship builder and a confident and articulate communicator.

  • Team player - success doesn’t happen in a vacuum, we need everyone in the org to be rallied around the same goals and help each other out to achieve them.

  • Adaptable - Being a startup, things here move quickly and you’ll be thrown last-minute curveballs. We enjoy it. We need you to, too.

  • Creative problem-solver - we know that processes can always be improved. We’re looking for someone who can think on their feet, solve problems, and identify opportunities.

  • Impressively organised - you expertly balance your daily to-do's, whilst driving short-term and long-term projects forward.

  • Experience and knowledge utilising HRIS (Personio would be a bonus).

  • Experience implementing and using CultureAmp (desirable).

  • Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and experience in dealing with ER matters and grievances (desirable).
