Production Operators - Nights
Based - Ashford
FIxed Term/Permanent Roles Night Shift
6-month training programme
Starting salary - £26,090 per annum this includes £5,910 shift allowance for nights
(Leading to £30,159 per annum this includes £5,910 shift allowance for nights)
6-month training programme
37.5 hours per week nights

We have multiple vacancies for Production Operators on our site in Ashford. The main purpose of the role will be to handle and dispense raw materials, applying the correct Health & Safety procedures and Quality procedures, and do it in an efficient and productive manner in order to meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

Understand and follow all Company Safety Procedures and adhere to processes, procedures and guidelines that are in place, including and not limited to: Personal Protective Equipment; accident/ incident reporting; first aid; manual handling; ALARP (Risk Assessment) and evacuation procedures. (The safety responsibilities of each operator grade are outlined in the H&S Manual supported by the relevant H&S training modules)
Challenge non-compliance to H&S and raise Tags when necessary and/ or speak to a Safety Representative
Understand and apply correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
Identify safety hazards and potential issues on the line
Be able to identify and safely use stop buttons
Complete Line Movement sheet for relevant line if transferred to a new line

Quality
Understand and apply the Company quality standards and practices that are in place including and not limited to: jewellery, glass and brittle plastics policy etc. (The quality responsibilities of all Operators are outlined in the Process Quality Control (PQC) Manual supported by the relevant PQC training module)
Be able to complete running checks on the line i.e. checking codes and seals (providing the PQC training modules had been completed and signed off) at 4 weeks’ service
Sign the register on the daily PQC sheet
Report Quality Issues to Shift Leader
Maintain departmental GMP and hygiene standards at all times
Maintain good housekeeping ensuring that the work area is always clean; tools are correctly cleaned and stored; spillages are cleaned up immediately and defects reported

Operations
Ensure the successful running of the production line / process in order to meet targets
Have awareness of business demands and an understanding of the site strategy and how the team fits into the long term plan
Ensure that an effective shift handover is conducted with the oncoming shift i.e. face-to-face; updated boards; completed handover document
Actively seek ways to improve performance
Contribute to the decision making process
Support the successful running of the production line in order to meet targets
Understand and meet output targets
Understand the running of the line and the names and roles of the main pieces of equipment
Use K9/ hand palleton trucks as required and always in a safe manner
Work with opposite shifts to achieve the daily planning schedule and service other department’s requirements

Teamworking
Work as part of a team to achieve maximum output
Share learning and ideas
