Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Thameside and will begin delivering services in May 2023. We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.
At Practice Plus Group our pharmacy teams ensure medicines optimisation is embedded into everyday practice. The main focus of the work will be to provide a dispensary and wing-based clinical pharmacy service and work with the Lead Pharmacist on providing medicines management support to a number of different wings within HMP Thameside.
You'll be responsible for the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high-quality prison pharmaceutical service. Working closely with the Head of Healthcare and the multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the provision of service meets the contractual obligations. The role also involves responsibility for providing daily expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and ensuring that a safe but modern medicines management service is provided to prisoners.
You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for developing your Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas.

HM Prison Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated next to HMP Belmarsh. HMP Thameside is London’s only private prison and can currently hold 1232 convicted and remand male prisoners.
