Java Senior Consultant – Remote working – Competitive Salary + flexible benefits - Permanent role

Leading IT Consultancy with offices in UK and Europe (Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland) is looking to recruit a permanent Java Senior Consultant for our prestigious international client in the Entertainment sector.

This is a permanent role with excellent scope to further develop your technical and skills. The role will be mainly Working from Home with occasional travel to OCS’ North London office and Client sites for meetings.

Key skills to have:

• Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience in Java software engineering and large systems experience
• Mandatory technical skillset: Deep Java knowledge with understanding of Java language specification and internal implementation, Multi-threading, Javadoc to class and method level to encode requirements prior to code implementation.
• Highly desirable additional skillset: GraphQL, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, Web technologies, XML, Web Services, REST API, JSON, JQuery, Eclipse, GIT, IntelliJ
• Excellent knowledge of JDK internals/implementations (collection classes, generics, reflection, multi-threading techniques, class loading, memory models, etc.)
• Able to show from previous experiences some non-proprietary code snippets, explain challenges and how you solved them
• An IT related degree or similar qualification
• Strong problem solver with ability to understand business and technical requirements, resolve ambiguities, design effective solutions and implement quality Java code
• Proven strong communicator, who is able to speak about technical matters in non-technical English with business stakeholders
• Flexible, can-do attitude, capable of multi-tasking, structured approach and works well within a team environment

Main responsibilities of the successful candidate:

• Java large systems back-end development, code optimization and technical support
• GraphQL query development for large federated data source
• Relational database design and SQL development
• Analysis of new customer requirements, estimation and planning
• Quality assurance including peer reviews, Unit and Integration testing
• Release management including source control, documentation and go-live
• Attending and contributing to Agile scrum meetings and regular team operational meetings
