Witness Care Officer

We currently have 2 vacancies for a Witness Care Officer to join our team in the Witness Care Unit. One role is permanent while the other is a 12 month temporary contract.

The purpose of the Witness Care Officer role is to provide updates, information and practical support to victims and witnesses in cases moving through the Court system.

As a Witness Care Officer, you will work as part of a close-knit team made up of Witness Care Officers, Administration Assistants and Team Leader.

You will be responsible for providing clear and concise updates to victims and witnesses in line with the Victim’s Code of Practice and Witness Charter.

You will assess victim and witness needs, warn witnesses to attend court where required and confirm their attendance supporting effective trials in both Magistrates and Crown Court.

You will arrange transportation, childcare, interpreters and accommodation for victims and witnesses who are required to attend court. You will complete onward referrals to support organizations and work closely with colleagues both in Nottinghamshire Police as well as other Criminal Justice partner agencies such as the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and courts (HMCTS)

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail focused and have the capacity to maintain professionalism and empathy while managing a caseload while working to strict deadlines.

Should you be successful, a release date will be negotiated between the two departments.
