A rare opportunity has arisen for a B5 Information Analyst to join the Dept of Public Health in NHS Lanarkshire. The post holder will play a lead role in the development, maintenance and quality of robust data systems and datasets pertaining to Public Health programmes. The post holder will use these data systems to undertake detailed statistical analysis and the generation of internal and external reports. The work of the Public Health team is varied and post holder will work across a range of topic areas including health protection surveillance, healthcare public health, health inequalities, post-pandemic recovery and remobilisation and the wider impact of the pandemic on health inequalities, child and maternal health programmes.

The following knowledge, training and/or experience is required for the job:

  • Academic qualifications with a high numerical and statistical content at degree level or with further skills gained through a mixture of experience and formal training.
  • Experience of working within an information/ statistical environment within the NHS is required.
  • A specialist knowledge and experience of application of NHS data definitions, information standards and policies is required.
  • Effective and sure communication skills are required to present and advise on analyses and implications and provide instruction and guidance on procedures and standards.
  • Supervisory experience is required to direct and prioritise workloads and to identify and resolve straightforward technical and organisational obstacles to the information production process. Planning and organising of own workload will be required to manage requirements of mandatory routine with non-routine requests and participation in short-term and ongoing internal and external working groups.
