About the role:

Network Rail Consulting in currently hiring for an experienced Systems Engineering professional to join the team based in Melbourne. In this role, you will lead the development of capability and delivery of Rail Systems Integration and Systems Engineering Consulting Services within Victoria and other states as required. You will have the opportunity to build on the creation and management of an interdisciplinary systems engineering approach for the Railway Programs by providing technical and project delivery expertise.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and deliver services using advanced systems engineering and assurance practices.
  • Manage engagements and work within engineering teams in the delivery of projects to clients within the related designated practice.
  • Apply systems engineering and assurance practices to complex, safety-critical, socio-technical systems in the rail domain.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the UK based SESA specialists team.
  • Use appropriate Systems Engineering toolsets (such as DOORS / DOORS Next Generation) to support projects to deliver the requirements management, architecture management, design management, standard management, interface management, V&V management change management, risk management, issue management processes and other processes managed in the Systems Engineering Frameworks.
  • Develop and/or Review requirements to ensure the system definition quality remains high and in accordance with systems engineering principles.
  • Support, develop and grow the business in all areas, by assisting teams in the tender and sales activities, identifying opportunities for new or follow-on work, following up leads in areas of expertise and fostering positive relationships with clients and potential clients.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Systems engineer with extensive experience in system engineering in complex projects.
  • Experience in application of Systems Engineering Tools such as DOORS Next Generation.
  • Experience interpreting and applying relevant standards in engineering delivery projects (e.g., AREMA, CENELEC, ISO/IEC, IEEE).
  • Affiliation with recognised professional body, i.e. Engineers Australia.
  • Background on railway programs or complex multi-disciplinary engineering programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Attention to detail when listening to collaborators (from many different subject areas) and capturing their thought processes.
  • Ability to prioritise work and deliver results within tight deadlines.
  • Relevant degree level engineering qualification.
