Clinical Psychologist Band 8a to 8b preceptorship

​We are a friendly and dedicated multidisciplinary team, offering comprehensive psychological assessments and therapy to children and families post adoption and families affected by trauma, and Autism Spectrum Condition assessments, further training will be offered for this. There is also scope to deliver online training, and groups.

We are looking for a full time or part time Clinical Psychologist, to provide assessments and therapeutic intervention. This is a role equivalent to a Band 8a NHS and this post will be a Preceptorship to a Band 8b over an agreed time period, subject to meeting specific competencies. You will receive full admin support, multidisciplinary meetings with clinicians from different disciplines, monthly supervision in your specialist therapeutic approach, and opportunity to be involved in service development and research. We are dedicated to training staff in therapeutic approaches that will be a good fit for our families, but also so that staff can pursue their own personal skills development. For example, further training in approaches such as DDP, EMDR, and Theraplay will be supported. You will also have the option of conducting some work online or at our well equipped family therapy rooms based in an idyllic setting in Armitage, near Rugeley, Staffordshire.

This role will include a component of service development and specific leadership tasks.

​Experience of working with Looked After Children and providing attachment focused therapies is desirable. Experience of autism assessments is also desirable.

​Job Summary:

• Provides specialist psychological assessment of children and families who have been affected by developmental trauma
• Develops formulations based on the assessment of attachment difficulties, developmental trauma, and neurodevelopmental conditions
• Provides leadership within the team and supervises more junior members of staff
• Is involved in service development and clinical governance
• Provides, develops and manages highly specialist interventions for children and families
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting trauma informed interventions
• Clinically supervises less experienced psychologists, assistant(s), trainee(s)
• Opportunity to be involved in service research projects if desired

Qualification: Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, meeting requirements for HCPC registration (mandatory)

Professional registrations required: Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory.

Experience: Clinical experience of working with children, families and young people is essential and experience in looked-after or adopted children and early trauma and attachment disorders in children is highly desirable. Experience in trauma-based therapies such as DDP and Theraplay® is also highly desirable. Experience of working with young people with autism is highly desirable also.
