My Community Finance is improving the nation’s financial health through accessibility, affordability, and community by giving not-for-profit credit unions access to our state of the art ecosystem. We’re growing community lenders into a network of challenger banks and making it accessible to everyone across the UK.

Set up by an ex UBS, Credit Suisse and Barclays team, we are over 75 people with a culture focused around autonomy and ownership. We have ambitious growth plans - having already grown 5x in 2021 and with over 45,000 customers on our platform, we’re on course to be the biggest player in the UK credit union market by the end of 2022.

The Role:

In response to the growing demand and the launch of an exciting new credit card product. We're rapidly expanding the Underwriting team in our Leeds operational centre.

As an Underwriter, you will work with a credit risk team that is the envy of the sector. We wish to build a team that enables us to cater for significant growth in the future. This role is an opportunity to develop and learn new skills in a fast-paced environment. Full induction training is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate credit applications (through determining affordability, ability to repay, creditworthiness and fraud risk) to approve or decline credit applications to £25K

- Accurately work customer screening alerts, identifying target matches and clearing false positives and fully investigate fraudulent activity by analyzing all available information including bureau data, contact details, bank account information and identity documents, to reach a decision on whether to lend

- Follow existing fraud and credit policy/processes, whilst actively seeking out current vulnerabilities, or new ways of identifying fraud in our systems and ways to mitigate these

- Responsible for end-to-end investigation of fraud claims with a final outcome which includes speaking with internal and external stakeholders via phone and email

- Build and maintain effective relationships across the business, specifically across Consumer Finance, Credit Risk Analytics, Customer Operations and Collections

Skills and Experience:

- Ability to think outside the box

- Possess a high level of numeracy

- Personal loan underwriting experience

- Ability to read and understand credit bureau data (or the ambition to learn)

- Experience in analyzing bank statements and other financial information

- Passionate about customer service
