Java / Scala Dev (Application Development)

We are looking for an enthusiastic fast-learning software developer with experience in Java or Scala. A strong candidate would be able to demonstrate the ability to analyse complex software and business domain issues and then clearly communicate both problems and solutions to technical and business audiences as well as implement them. Due to the highly complex business and technical domains we operate in we need candidates that enjoy teaching and mentoring others as well as collaborating to deliver solutions. Extensive training will be provided on our technology stack

The team is based in London and Budapest and is part of the Fed Apps department. The Fed Apps department works on producing and distributing financial risk data to different decision makers within the bank, primarily for FX, IR and Credit products using the RICE platform. Morgan Stanley uses the data to make important decisions, such as: Are we making a profit? Do we have enough cash to fund our trading activity? What are the financial risks we are exposed to and how large are they? And how much capital we require to cover our risk exposure?

Our work helps speed up decision making and improves the accuracy of the data provided. This involves both standardizing risk calculations across different financial products as well as bringing the trading, risk management and finance departments closer together by streamlining the data flows across the bank. We therefore work closely with Strats, Support, other Dev teams and teams in MRD (Market Risk), Liquidity Management and Credit Risk.

This role will be specifically working on the FRTB IMA project, which is a new regulatory requirement which impact bank's capital requirements. This is a multi-year project that will require implementing and improving our latest technology to be successful, including cloud, x-asset calculations, and end-2-end data lineage.
