We are looking for Technical Operatives (also known as ‘Tech Ops’) to join our #WeAreMcCain family.
ABOUT THE JOB
Based at our Scarborough plant, you will ensure potato intake operates effectively and that a continuous supply of potatoes meets planned schedule to quality requirements. You'll also be responsible for...
- Technical aspects of the department – blending processes, bin management, achieving production requirements for the peeler.
- Making technical adjustments as required for efficient running, calibrating, fault finding and rectifying as required.
- Continually monitor and carry out tests to determine if area quality is being achieved, taking preventative or corrective action when appropriate and informing all applicable parties. Input traceability production run data into computer system
- Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and the development and improvement of quality controls
- Understand and operate equipment for the area as per Standard Work Methods
- Routine sampling of raw material, checking potato passport, recording of data and liaising with production and AOL on specification achievements. Actioning and maintaining rejection data.
All whilst maintaining high quality, hygiene, maximum production and a high level of safety – our number one priority here at McCain.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You might have never worked in a food manufacturing environment before, and that’s OK! We’re quick learners here at McCain, so we can teach you everything you need to know.
However, we are looking for someone who can really make a difference to our plant, who brings experience of working in a team, the ability to work closely with their manager, and who has a real ability to bring people along a change journey with them.

WHERE WILL I WORK?
You’ll be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire. We opened this plant back in the swinging sixties, but it’s definitely not stuck in the past. It’s one of the largest French fry factories in the world and after a recent development, it’s also one of the most high tech. Our team of over 300 colleagues work hard to make sure the quality of our products keep our customers returning for more, for now and years to come!
