Job Summary: A new and exciting opportunity has become available to an experienced accountant looking to work with a dynamic and proactive team and/or further their development with complimentary accountancy or specialist services within the financial sector. As an accountant at Maven, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clients' financial activities. You will be responsible for performing various accounting tasks, including financial statement preparation, tax compliance, VAT returns, tax returns, personal self-assessments, financial analysis; producing and distributing financial reports. The ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical skills, a strong attention to detail, and an in-depth understanding of the UK accounting principles and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial records and maintain accurate bookkeeping entries for clients.
  • Liaise with the bookkeeping team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Perform periodic financial analysis, identify trends, and provide insights to clients to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather and analyse financial data, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance financial performance.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct audits to ensure accuracy, integrity, and adherence to financial regulations.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes for clients.
  • Provide guidance and support to clients on financial matters, including financial planning and risk management.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and best practices and ensure compliance within the firm and for clients.
  • Utilise accounting software and tools effectively to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with clients to address their accounting needs and resolve any issues.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant preferably with experience
  • Proven experience as an Accountant; with your own client base, within an accounting firm or a similar professional environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and tax laws.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and tools, with a strong ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis and reporting techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Integrity and ethical conduct in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific accounting practices and regulations would be an advantage.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £30,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
