Location: Bristol
Salary: £61,641 - £68, 490 + excellent benefits package
Hours: [Full-Time]
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our London or Bristol office.
About this opportunity…
At Lloyds Banking Group we’re embracing collaborative, agile ways of working, to help us deliver the best outcomes for our colleagues, customers and businesses. Join us and discover how this could work for you.
The Business area:
Data – the Crown Jewels of the bank, key to our strategy and at the centre of the Group’s investment programme.
In DML, we 're shaping the Group’s ambition by enabling the bank to gain value from data by providing safe and efficient Group wide data capabilities and services.
In order to maximise the utility from data, we are creating a Data Design Function to develop a portfolio of capabilities and patterns which can be adopted by DML Labs and programmes, plus federated teams in other platforms. These patterns will provide approaches to the delivery of data so that we can achieve consistency in approach, so that we generate a mesh of data products that support interoperability, reusability and extensibility.
The Role - Data Design Analyst
Our Data Design Analysts are involved in helping to define, develop and promote patterns that help Data Product Producers to develop interoperable, reusable and extensible data products. The patterns allow for a higher quality outcome delivered in a way that is efficient, focussing on the whole experience of data, from the data itself to the metadata that describes the data to make it discoverable and the controls required to enable it to be trusted.
What we want from you!
We recognise the impact data can have on operating the bank, and we appreciate the sizeable opportunities data can bring to better serving our customers and growing the business. It is the foundation of our operation and is a vital component of building the Bank of the Future.
The sheer pace and scale of change taking place in the data space means there couldn’t be a more exciting time to join us. This is particularly true as we embark on our journey to move the Enterprise Data Hub into the Cloud! And at the same time pivot to a Data Product led development approach. This will create even more opportunities to get the most from our data by having a modern technology toolset at our fingertips.
What does the role involve?
  • Design and architect solutions for managing the group’s data architecture
  • Maintenance of the definition of a data product, including provision of leadership to the design community on their effective provision
  • Develop approaches to measure the impact of the patterns
  • Contribute to scrum ceremonies and practices including planning, refinement, retrospectives, and show & tell events
  • Analyse data from key source systems and design suitable data solutions including data models, data flow diagrams, data mappings and scenarios that transform the data from source to target
  • Manage version control of patterns to ensure we control technical debt
  • Support the end-to-end change process including testing, implementation and reviewing of solutions to ensure functional and data assurance requirements are met
About You
  • Passionate about data and delivering high quality data-led solutions
  • Great understanding of the system development lifecycle and software development approaches
  • Deep skills in data modelling and database design, from conceptual design to database optimisation
  • Good understanding of emerging data technologies including Cloud
  • Able to conceive and portray the “big picture” from the perspective of the whole organisation
  • Able to influence stakeholders, build strong business relationships and communicate in a clear, concise manner
  • Excellent analytical skills and able to work methodically with a high level of attention to detail
  • Expert knowledge of SQL or any big data technologies is a plus (GCP, DataProc, DataFlow, Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Scala, Spark etc)
What can we offer you in return?
