We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual who is interested in working Higher Education, to join the Faculty of Natural Sciences’ Education Team.

A key element of the Education Support Coordinator role concerns supporting the management of curriculum data and information for Faculty committees and internal consumers of this information. You will also be responsible for supporting working groups, feedback mechanisms, and initiatives relating to education and student wellbeing.

A methodical and accurate approach to work, attention to detail, and the ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues from a range of departments and professional will be key to succeeding in the role.

Duties and responsibilities

Your responsibilities will cover a range of areas, but the key duties will involve:

  • Liaise with departments regarding the modification, suspension and withdrawal of programmes/modules, as well as the development of new programme proposals, and provide support for the preparation of relevant paperwork for consideration at the Faculty Education and other committees.
  • Work with Registry colleagues to track modification requests from submission, through the quality assurance approval process, and to their accurate capture on the central student records system.
  • Support users of curriculum and student data across the Faculty to interpret data correctly, to manage accuracy queries, and provide data analyses as required.
  • Support the Faculty EdTech team and departments to populate and maintain accurate curriculum data in the various digital learning systems, and maintain curriculum related information pertinent to systems which is not held with the central student records system.
  • Assist departments with collation and analysis of module data and provide support for the module registration process.
  • Assist departments and colleagues in the Registry with managing information required for assessment results and be involved in developing and testing technology to support this process.
  • Act as secretary to the Faculty Education Committee, and associated meetings; the Faculty Student Staff Committees; and the Faculty Mitigation Oversight Panel.
  • Assist with coordination of the Faculty Student Staff Committees; with the operation of Faculty working groups related to education and student wellbeing; and with regular meetings with academic role holders/administrative leads from departments.
  • Assist with the management of the Faculty Dean’s Fund.
  • Provide administration for the Faculty’s Learning and Teaching Development Programme, including liaising with facilitators and tracking staff through the programme
  • Assist with coordination of Faculty activities surrounding Undergraduate Research Opportunities (UROP), International Research Opportunities; bursaries and scholarships.
  • Assist the Education Manager and Faculty Senior Tutor in supporting initiatives for student wellbeing.
  • Assist the Education Manager and vice-Dean (Education) in supporting initiatives for improving and enhancing the student experience.
  • Liaise with the Digital Media and Communications team to maintain and update information on the Education and Teaching sections of the Faculty’s website.
  • Collaborate, and build effective working relationships with colleagues across the College, in particular working with the equivalent teams in the other Faculties, as well as participating in working groups as appropriate to the role.
  • Undertake any other relevant duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post as may be determined.

Essential requirements



  • Experience of committee/working group administration and management, including preparation of agendas and papers and minute taking.

  • Experience of the application of standardised institutional level procedures and/or academic regulation.

  • Experience of prioritising work and managing workloads successfully including meeting objectives and deadlines, in particular in the light of any unforeseen circumstances.

  • Experience of providing a responsive, timely, customer focussed service – on the telephone, via electronic medium and face-to-face.

  • Good understanding of higher education and academic administration.

  • Ability to understand and apply complex procedures and regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels of the College.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including attention to detail, accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed and/or complex manipulation and analysis of data using spreadsheets.

  • Excellent IT skills (including MS Word and Excel).

  • A high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail and the ability to independently resolve queries.

  • A methodical and accurate approach to work with attention to detail.

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Frameworkuntil early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
