Are you going to the Edinburgh Fringe as a performer or spectator, or do you have plans to? Are you confident talking to strangers, energetic, enthusiastic about comedy? Or alternatively are you the quiet, shy type but good at technical work? Would you like to be in a passionate, cutting-edge team helping to put on shows at the Fringe this year?

If you answered ‘no’ to some of these questions, well, this hasn’t worked out as we were hoping, good luck with the rest of your day. But if you mostly said ‘yes’, we could be in for an interesting conversation here. Impatient was set up by Mark Watson and Lianne Coop ten years ago at this very festival, and is one of the success stories of the comedy industry, responsible for a glittering range of live shows, radio series, podcasts, online content, and viral videos where our social media guy chases Watson all over the UK. At Edinburgh this year we’re producing our biggest ever range of shows: comedy, magic, family, music. We would like you to join us, if you’re still interested by the end of this ad.

WORKING IN THE STREET TEAM

-You’ll hand out flyers to potential show-goers, talk about the shows, charm the hell out of them, encourage them to book, tell them about special offers, basically hustle like on ‘The Apprentice’ but without looking like an idiot or having to wear a suit.

-You’ll work between four and eight hours for £12.50 an hour, plus potential performance-related bonuses.

-You’ll be in a hyper-stimulating environment to, still the world’s greatest arts festival by a mile, ideal if you’re performing yourself, or just wanting to see things, or simply be part of the unique atmosphere. But – worth being honest from the outset – it’s sometimes tough, tiring work and it rains every day. You’ll need to be a resilient, upbeat sort of person (at least most of the time; you’re allowed two cries a week) and to enjoy being in a team, and be flexible and adaptable in what is sometimes quite a chaotic realm.

-You’ll get a free pass to all Impatient shows - and there are lots – as well as passes to various other venues and sometimes sneaky last-minute tickets for sold-out shows.
