An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker with administrative duties to join our nurse-led team serving Cardigan community and its surrounding areas. At present, the service operates from Monday to Friday 07:00 to 20:30, including Bank Holidays. Hours of work may vary according to future demands where we will be looking to deliver the service over 7 days with extended opening hours.

Ceredigion Same day Urgent Care Service provides care and treatment to patients presenting with a wide range of minor injury and illness. It is an exciting time to join our team which is now situated in the new integrated care centre which opened at the end of 2019. We are constantly exploring new way of working and seek a forward thinking individual who can play a key part in taking this much-needed service forward.

You will demonstrate a calm and confident approach to your work demonstrating excellent administrative and communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively. Team working and the ability to be flexible is important to ensure that service provision can be delivered efficiently and effectively.

The Same Day urgent Care team are a small friendly team with the single goal of ensuring the best outcomes for our patients. The successful applicant will be key in the smooth running of the department supporting the staff with all administrative tasks and health support worker duties and therefore needs to be competent and confident in computer skills such as word/excel/email etc. Previous office experience and exposure to the healthcare environment is essential.

The service is constantly developing, in line with changes in local and national healthcare provision and we are looking for a forward- thinking, competent, and caring person who has the ability to work well under pressure.

The successful candidate will be committed to service improvements with an acceptance of change, and desire to work in a positive environment that embraces the challenges urgent care faces as the service moves forward.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;

Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
