The Bridges and Structures team are looking to recruit a Trainee Bridges Technician.

The successful candidate will form part of a flexible team assisting the investigation, development, design, and commissioning of high-quality civil engineering projects which contribute to the objectives of the City Council’s Community Strategy.

You will assist Bridge Engineers in the provision of an effective service that will significantly support community sustainability through the delivery of efficient and well-co-ordinated services which impact upon the local physical environment.

You will ensure that the Council’s bridge and highway structure assets are managed in an efficient and controlled manner, and that standards and design/quality criteria are met, the existing public highway or other City Council owned infrastructure is not compromised, and effective communication with consultants, contractors, users of the public highway and other key stakeholders (such as The Environment Agency, Network Rail, National Highways and Historic England) is maintained.

Because this is a career graded post for which the starting salary will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and experience, applications are invited from budding engineers starting on a career in civil engineering, to qualified civil engineers who wish to specialise in bridges and structures.
