Role overview

Hooded Owls Ltd is an ecommerce business selling a range of products that make bathtime with children easier and more fun! The business consists of two brands: Bathtime Adventures, a range of themed bath treats to get them in the tub (think bath bombs, bubble baths and soaps); and Hooded Owls, big, thick, fluffy hooded towels for getting them out afterwards.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a marketeer to join our friendly team. As a small business, this is a hands-on role, ideal for somebody who wants to build their skill set across the full breath of marketing within an ecommerce business.

Working closely with the business owner, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of marketing activities related to brand building across on and offline channels for both Hooded Owls and Bathtime Adventures. You will also be supported by a content creator.

Key responsibilities:

Bigger picture stuff

  • Monitor and analyse customer, competitor and market data and develop/adapt the marketing strategy to meet revenue and growth targets
  • Plan, manage and execute monthly and seasonal marketing campaigns
  • Identify growth opportunities through research, internal developments and external partners
  • Input into product development – identify and brainstorm opportunities for new products and advise on marketing potential
  • Analyse the customer journey to identify improvements, and propose new ecom features and platform developments.

The nitty gritty

  • Plan, write and schedule regular newsletters to fit with monthly/seasonal campaigns
  • Manage the newsletter subscription database
  • Manage and develop automated email marketing flows
  • Create, monitor and report on social media and other online advertising (Google Shopping, Facebook, Instagram), working to agreed budgets and targets
  • Plan and maintain a regular and consistent presence on social media channels to support brand positioning and monthly campaigns, and respond to social media messages, queries and comments.
  • Update content across digital distribution channels including the website and other online marketplaces, with a strong focus on SEO
  • Research, identify and fulfil relevant press/media opportunities, and liaise with journalists etc where required.
  • Assist with planning and organising seasonal events such as Christmas Fairs. You may also be required to attend these and interact with customers face-to-face.
  • Work with a content creator to plan and generate relevant content and media assets for all channels.
  • Input in the monthly ecommerce meeting, reporting appropriate figures and setting monthly and quarterly goals.

Applicant requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a degree in marketing, business studies or similar.
  • a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in marketing within an ecommerce or direct-to-consumer environment.
  • excellent attention to detail, a sound comprehension of English spelling and grammar, and a creative spark!
  • IT skills, as all our work is online.

Familiarity with the following software would also be preferable:

  • Shopify
  • Klaviyo (for email)
  • Meta Business Suite (for Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns)
