About The Role
Hippo Digital is recruiting a Senior Splunk Engineer to join our Hippo Herd. Senior Splunk Engineers work in multi-disciplinary teams that build, support & maintain user-centred digital solutions whilst also helping organisations meet their goals and drive transformation using data analytics.

Hippo’s Senior Splunk Engineers leverage on the power of Splunk to deliver and manage IT operations data analytics services for our clients. As a Senior Consultant you will deliver solutions following our proven framework or create bespoke solutions tailored to business requirements. Acting as an SME, you will be involved in the deployment, troubleshooting, optimisation and creation of our own applications within Splunkbase.

The role in a nutshell

• Act as a technical SME across the Splunk platform
• Create bespoke solutions based on our clients needs or enhance existing solutions that add real value
• Involved in the administration, deployment, and optimisation of Splunk and develop bespoke operational reports and alerts using Python
• Profile and interpret logs consisting of events, network traffic, systems, and application logs to identify trends and patterns
• Deploy, integrate, and support critical solutions in a complex environment
• Engage with internal/external stakeholders to help them interpret and understand the data
• Mentor and coach junior members of the team through knowledge transfer and upskilling
• Collaborate with the wider Engineering & Data community to provide insight and awareness into latest industry trends and standards

Skills and experience that you need

• A proven track record of working with security technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and Endpoint protection, ideally within a network security, or a security operations environment
• Extensive experience and expertise across the Splunk platform
• Expertise across a wide variety of Security tools, programs and methodologies
• Experience of agile methodologies and associated toolsets
• Coding expertise using languages such as Python, particularly in relation to security use cases, reporting and alerting
• AWS experience would be great as would experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef and Puppet
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
• Willingness to learn and continually develop

Hippo locations
Our Hippo offices are in Leeds, London, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester. However, we invite candidates to apply from anywhere in the UK who can be flexible regarding location. We offer a relocation support package of up to £8k to help cover the cost of moving somewhere within commuting distance of one of our locations. Please note that due to the nature of the business, we may also request that you work from client locations or your home.
