Stock Person working with Large Animals

Hillside Animal Sanctuary at Frettenham

Hours of Work: 7.30am - 5.00pm Summer Season, working 5 days over 7 with alternate weekends off.

Job Description
Assisting in providing a high standard of care to rescued horses, cattle, sheep
and pigs at the sanctuary.

Duties to include (but not limited to)

• Preparation of feeds & daily feed run operations
• Cleaning out of animal paddocks, enclosures and water tanks
• Closely monitoring animal health and well-being
• Maintaining safe, clean, warm and dry environments for the animals
• Moving, leading and grooming equines
• Tractor/trailer driving
• General cleaning and maintenance of equipment

Skills/ Qualities

• A genuine interest in animal welfare
• Animal husbandry qualification or experience of working with large animals
• Current manual driving licence
• Practical hands-on and hard-working approach to work
• Capable to carry out manual handling
• Ability to work alone and within a team
• Good communication skills
• Experience of outdoor working in all Seasons
• Excellent time-keeping and attendance to work
