Assistant Buyer
We are recruiting for a Restaurants Assistant Buyer to join our Buying team here at Harrods. The focus of your role will be to work closely with our Chefs to source the best ingredients, ensuring the best food for our wonderful customers and supporting the Buyer in bringing our Chefs visions to life.
About the Role
We have 27 food outlets across our Knightsbridge store, each offering a unique experience for our customers. As the Restaurants Assistant Buyer, you will support the Buyer in sourcing the highest quality ingredients at the lowest price to supply our Harrods Own Bought restaurants.
Working closely with the with internal stakeholders (Chefs, Buying Admin and Supply Chain) as well as external vendors and suppliers, you will optimise the end-to-end life cycle of our produce.
Your duties will include:
- Supporting the buyer with leading weekly cross functional meetings with the different kitchens.
- Working closely with supply chain and technical on availability issues (commercials agreed and technical specs set up)
- Supporting the buyer with landing the restaurant strategic vision and the retail category plans
- Supporting the buyer with supplier management via scorecards and JBPs
- Supporting the buyer with commercial negotiations either due to seasonality, inflation or tenders.
- Attending supplier visits to understand the end to end supply chain and quality of ingredients being sourced.
About You
You will have experience at Buyer’s Assistant or Assistant Buyer level. You will be a real foodie, passionate about bringing the best product into Harrods in order for our Chefs to bring their magical creations to life. This calls for not only innovation and strong negotiation skills but also an innate ability to build long lasting relationships.
You will have prior experience within a hospitality business or standalone restaurant, where you have worked closely with chefs and understand the fast paced nature of the Assistant Buyer role. You will possess expert procurement skills including supplier management, supply chain management, cost management, quality and safety management.
You will also possess:
- Brilliant time management and admin skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong PC literacy (Microsoft, Excel & SAP)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solution based approach
- Understanding of the food buying cycle.
